Interview with Eva Pérez on Nordlogway's EcoVadis Platinum Medal

Nordlogway has been awarded the EcoVadis Platinum medal, achieving a score of 89 out of 100 and ranking in the 99th percentile of assessed companies.

Beyond the recognition itself, this rating provides customers with an independent assessment of how Nordlogway manages issues that are becoming increasingly important in supplier selection: environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

We speak with Eva Pérez, Quality Manager at Nordlogway, to learn more about the work behind this achievement and what it means for customers who entrust their logistics operations to the company.

Nordlogway has achieved the EcoVadis Platinum medal with a score of 89 out of 100, placing it in the 99th percentile. What does this result mean for the company?

It is a significant step forward because it places us among the top 1% of companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide.

For Nordlogway, it represents recognition of the efforts we have made to improve our sustainability management system and progressively integrate it into the company's day-to-day operations.

It also strengthens the confidence we can offer our customers, particularly at a time when more and more companies need to work with suppliers that can demonstrate their environmental, social and ethical commitments.

What has changed at Nordlogway since the previous assessment to make this progress possible?

One of the key factors has been the involvement and leadership of Nordlogway's management team in taking on challenges and setting objectives that allow us to keep improving and take pride in our company.

This commitment helps ensure that sustainability becomes part of the decisions, processes and working practices across the different areas of the organisation.

For customers, this means that sustainability is not treated as a one-off or isolated initiative, but as a criterion embedded in Nordlogway's management approach.

What have been the main initiatives or projects that have contributed to improving Nordlogway's EcoVadis rating?

Over the past few years, we have obtained certification for our environmental management system, which we have integrated into our quality management system. During the past year, we have also achieved certification for our information security management system.

At the same time, we have implemented various environmental best practices, including calculating our carbon footprint and using energy from 100% renewable sources. We have also made progress in implementing training programmes, policies and procedures aimed at ensuring the well-being of our team and strengthening Nordlogway's commitment to society and the communities in which we operate.

These initiatives are documented annually in the company's sustainability report, allowing us to monitor results and continue improving year after year.

What kind of work goes into an assessment like this?

Within the Quality Department, we are responsible for identifying areas for improvement, proposing objectives, defining the necessary actions and monitoring their implementation.

The assessment requires policies, procedures, indicators and supporting evidence that demonstrate how sustainability is managed and what progress has been achieved.

This is precisely one of the strengths of EcoVadis: it does not rely solely on statements of commitment, but on information and evidence that make it possible to assess a company's management system.

Is this a Quality Department project, or does it involve the entire organisation?

It involves the entire organisation because sustainability applies to every area of the business and requires the efforts of the whole team.

Our department coordinates and monitors the process, but results are only possible when commitments are translated into the daily operations of the company and each of its departments.

From a customer's perspective, what are the benefits of working with a logistics operator that holds an EcoVadis Platinum rating?

It provides the assurance of working with a supplier whose sustainability management system has received an excellent rating and whose practices are aligned with increasingly demanding environmental, social and ethical requirements.

For many companies, sustainability is already part of their supplier selection and qualification criteria. Having an independent assessment such as EcoVadis makes it easier for customers to understand and demonstrate the maturity of their logistics provider's sustainability management practices.

This is particularly relevant in supply chains where customers need suppliers capable of supporting their own sustainability objectives and commitments.

After achieving Platinum, what is the next challenge?

Without a doubt, maintaining this rating is already a challenge in itself. Sustainability is a process of continuous improvement that requires us to review objectives, measure results and keep developing new initiatives.

Therefore, Platinum is not a final destination, but a commitment to continued progress.

In which areas does Nordlogway want to continue making progress?

We want to keep improving our environmental performance. One of our objectives is to join initiatives aimed at reducing transport-related emissions and progressively promote the use of more sustainable vehicles and fuels.

We also want to further support the professional development of our team through training programmes focused more closely on skills and competencies.

The challenge is to maintain continuous progress and ensure that sustainability remains embedded in Nordlogway's management, operations and decision-making, while delivering greater value to customers seeking to build increasingly responsible supply chains.
